Greenhouse Winter Heating Tips:
There are several inexpensive options to chose from:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Solar Air Heaters by Solar Infra Systems. This can not be the primary heating source if your temperatures are falling below freezing at night.
The solar air heaters only work during the day in partial and full sun.
Solar Infra has a great indoor-outdoor mount that's 24"x36"
Retails from $399 and up.
2) Portable Electric Heaters. We highly recommend the Patron E1.5 model.
The commercial grade heaters are designed to run for 10 years with a break!
Features a 116 CFM fan motor which distributes warm air throughout the room.
Powder-coated durable steel housing / BTU/Hour: 5,100 / Watts: 1,500
Retails from $239 and up.
3) Using the sun to warm your Greenhouse is an option depending on your geographic
location. With proper insulation this may keep your plants above freezing.
4) Greenhouse Indoor Bubble Insulation. TekFoil™ Clear Bubble Insulation can drastically reduce your greenhouse heating costs by 35%. Our TekFoil Clear Bubble Insulation adds an extra layer of insulating protection to your greenhouse and
may help to reduce your heating bills in the late autumn and winter. Install the Bubble Greenhouse Insulation bubble side facing the glass or polycarbonate.
In addition to saving you money during the cool seasons, this high UV-translucent Bubble Insulation will also prevent overheating during the hot summer months.
5)Either option you choose, you will need to insulate your Greenhouse.
See our previous Blogs on How to Winterize you Greenhouse.
Of course you could go Geothermal, Wind Turbines, Portable electric baseboard heating, Wood Stove etc. These would be a tad more expensive.
